Taking a Sabbatical from our Sabbatical

How can I say this?

Not by a long shot have we given up our dream of continuing our cruise, but we have faced the fact that it could be a while before we are able to return to our magical life.  Still, I miss blogging, and I have a lot to say (!), so, though I am suspending my cruising blog, I have decided to begin a land-locked one. I had joked in the "cruising" blog that I should change its title to "Staggering on Dry Land"; when I mentioned that to Tom, he suggested that, in honor of his new gait, I name it "Lurching on Dry Land." This is a bit of a misnomer - he hardly lurches - but there is still a bit of a robot-like quality to his carriage (as there is to his speech, come to think of it), especially when he's tired, that does remind one of Frankenstein.

But he's getting better! He's started working out on the stairmaster at the Y, and can feel and see the difference. I'm proud.

We will move to Gerrilynn's the middle of March - can't wait. But in the meantime, some big doings:
     1.  Tom has his arteriogram on Wednesday.  I would say, "Wish us luck," but not sure what that means n this case.  So, "Think of us."
     2.  He sees his neurologist on Friday.
     3.  Unless we learn otherwise from #'s 1 and 2, we will take off (driving) to the Florida Panhandle Friday or Saturday, where we will stay for several days in the vacation house that Cheryl and Curtis have rented.  Ooh, ooh, ooh! We're both excited - hope we get to go.

And now, a look back at some shots of friends and family aboard Second Fantasy before we began our cruise, when it was docked in Rockport, behind our house, and at Lakewood Yacht Club. Those were some great times, too.

So . . . temporarily we bid goodbye to the boat and the cruising blog.  And welcome you to this new, less-focused, more wide-ranging blog - I plan to have fun with it, and you're welcome to join me.
